I have added a couple new pages.  The first is a list of progressive books I have read and recommend.  There’s no particular pattern here; just things I like and want to share.  If you have any suggestions of things to read please pass them on, I’m always looking for good books.

The “protest songs” page is info about a CD I made last year.  The same goes there, I can always use new music.  It may be time for a new CD.

as the 2008 presidential campaign approaches i find several similarities between 2008 and 1968. in 1968 we were heavily involved in the vietnam war, and pres. johnson plan was to eccalate troops. in 2006 it is iraque ,and bush’s policy is escalating troops.
there were 3 democratic pres. candidates in 1968 super liberal eugene mccarthy, liberal robert kennedy, and moderate hubert humphrey. as we all know mccarthy’s initial challenge of johnson in primaries along with the war issue forced johnson to not seek realection. as kennedy’s campaign grew stronger mccarthy faded and it was a 2 person race. unfortunatel kennedy was assasinated ,and humphrey got the nod.
in this democratic race we have super liberal obama, liberal clinton, and moderate edwards. and as in 68 a new president will be elected. it will be interesting to see it play out. hopefully not like 68 the iraqu war will be over.
